"Loyalty, Respect, Kindness and Compassion, is the philosophy of Kung-Fu San Soo. To see the art of San Soo in action one would have to wonder how these four words fit into such an aggressive style of martial arts. A good friend of mine who studied a different style of martial arts in his teenage years recently visited the studio to observe a class, on the way home after the class he said to me 'What I really liked about the class was that everybody respected each other regardless of what belt they wore !' He mentioned to me that at the studio he went to the upper belts did not respect the lower belts, their respect was something that had to be earned. In San Soo that ideology is unacceptable even our Master remembers that he was once a white belt.
I personally have a great deal of respect for our Master Mark and the owner David along with all the Black belts, to achieve those levels is quite an accomplishment. But what I appreciate the most about all of them is the loyalty, the respect, the kindness and the compassion they show to all of the other students. There are no chips on anybodies shoulders at Fighting Dragons; we're just like one big happy family.
I joined Fighting Dragons about one and a half years ago and in that time I have meet a lot of really good people, developed some good friendships and as a bonus I get to learn a really cool style of Martial Arts." Russ (1 st Degree Green Belt)
"I cannot say that taking Kung Fu is what I had expected; It is so much more than I ever expected. The knowledge is vast and might I venture to say ever flowing. I have found a peace in it.
The serious student will learn to exercise control and discipline, while using their intellect and doing something that they love.
My instructors, here at Fighting Dragons are terrific. They teach us humility as well as self control and therefore are worthy of respect.
As a bonus my mind, body and spirit are in great shape, and I am learning an art that enables me to defend myself and my loved ones from a violent attack." Kimber (Yellow Belt) |
